Help Get the Word Out Now!

Here are three things you can do to help spread the word about the spay/neuter bill:

1.  Inform others you know about the bill through meetings, phone calls, emails, and other networking you do.  Mention the bill at community meetings to reach a broader audience. Please direct people to this website, Save Washington Pets, for information.  Encourage them to sign up for our email newsletter:

2.  Broadly distribute the flyers to promote the spay/neuter bill.  They are available for download from
this page.  Email the flyers to friends and colleagues; hand them out at outreach and fundraising events; post flyers in public locations, such as dog parks, pet stores, coffee shops, grocery stores, and veterinary offices.

3.  Write a letter to the editor or an opinion article for your local newspaper.

If you're affiliated with an animal welfare organization, please consider the following additional steps:

1.  Place a prominent link on your website to Save Washington Pets.  Here is suggested wording for your website:

Spay/neuter legislation is being proposed for the 2010 legislative session that will help fund tens of thousands of additional spay/neuter surgeries for cats and dogs throughout Washington.   [Your organization’s name] supports this legislation to help prevent animal homelessness and save animals’ lives.  Your help is essential to getting a bill passed next session. Learn more and join us in supporting the bill by visiting the Save Washington Pets website: www.savewashingtonpets.org.

2.  Include information about the spay/neuter bill in upcoming
newsletters you produce.

3.  Send a special announcement about the spay/neuter bill, or incorporate it into a planned email to your supporters, affiliates, or members of your organization.

4.  Inform your board of directors, employees, and volunteers about the spay/neuter bill.  Remember, they can help as individuals to spread the word and contact the legislators who represent them where they live.
